About Ultrasound
Ultrasound Studios is fully equipped for full band live tracking, overdubs, mixing, voiceovers, sound design, demos, and video editing. Ultrasound and its dedicated staff of engineers are committed to the highest standards of sound recording and implement a ‘get it right at the source’ approach.
Situated in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, Ultrasound is the perfect studio for any recording project. Studio A utilizes a large L-shaped performance area with 20 foot ceilings combined with 4 isolation booths and a live echo chamber, providing the artist / producer with the full range of acoustic options, from very ambient/live to extremely dry/tight. Further acoustic control of the performance area can be implemented using baffles and an adjustable height drum-brella. The studio’s sound also relies on an impressive collection of vintage and modern tube, condenser, ribbon, and dynamic microphones and outboard gear.
The studio provides cutting edge technology in both digital and analog recording. The centerpiece of the studio is a 32 channel fully discrete 1974 custom API console, with a very rich history of artists spanning 50+ years. Ultrasound utilizes the industry standard Digital Audio Workstations, Pro Tools HDX, Logic Pro, and Ableton Live, and a Apogee Symphony MKii 32X32 ll performs all Analog to Digital and Digital to Analog conversion. The available analog tape machines at Ultrasound are a 24 track Stephens 812B, a 3M M79 1/2" 2 track and a rev PR99 1/4" 2 track.
Studio B is an additional control room space featuring a heavily modified Amek Angela console, with a variety of supplemental 500 series microphone preamps, including Neve, API, and BAE.
